HORIZON Expert Safety Culture Forum: Shymkent Results

The main objective of the forum was to explore practical tools for improving the effectiveness of occupational health and safety management systems (OHSMS). The sessions were moderated by Askhat Yeraliyev — an internationally recognised expert (member of the IoC and the British IOSH).

Key Programme Sessions:

• OHSMS Analysis: Participants examined modern approaches to safety leadership and methods for assessing the maturity of corporate culture at enterprises.
• Practical work: In a business game format, representatives from various industries analysed real production cases. This enabled participants to exchange experience in solving typical challenges and test new team interaction approaches.
• Applied tools: The focus was on ready-to-use behavioural models and internal safety culture assessment methodologies that managers can implement without a lengthy adaptation period.

The business programme concluded with a Q&A session, after which participants were awarded official certificates.

The Shymkent forum confirmed the regional business community's demand for quality networking and the exchange of practical experience. HORIZON continues its work on implementing international safety standards at Kazakhstani enterprises, providing methodological support to the professional community.
